Will Canada join the EU? Who's the next Governor General?

This Monday, Prime Minister Mark Carney went to the European summit in Armenia, which was a big step in building a tight relationship with Europe and having us as a nation depend less on America, due to Canada being the first ever non-European country to be in the summit. Canada had many discussions with countless European nations, with Carney encouraging investment in Canadian resources, and also gave $270 million to support Ukraine.
Do these close ties with Europe mean that Canada will join the EU?
Even though it has been a big talk lately, with 55% of people in Germany saying they would like Canada to join and the French Prime Minister even jokingly suggesting Canada should join, the chances of this happening are borderline impossible due to there being many laws in the EU stating that only countries in Europe can join. Also, the Canadian Government has no interest in joining the EU and instead wants to create a stronger relationship to have less of a dependence on the U.S.A.

The next Governor General was announced on May 5th in Ottawa. Her name is Louise Arbour and she will be in office this June. She was a jurist and served on the Supreme Court for just under five years. She is very respected and will be the 31st GG of Canada.
In case you do not know, the Governor General is recommended by the Prime Minister then approved by King Charles, and the term lasts typically five to seven years.
